It is hard to be an Amazon seller, and it is even harder to be a good Amazon seller.
Some sellers received an email notifying that the product was deleted. The email content might look like this:
We hereby inform you that due to the complaint, your quotation for these asin has been deleted from the Amazon website: these products do not comply with the provisions of the product safety Act (ProdSG) in the following aspects: there is a lack of instructions from authorized representatives or importers (§ 6 ABS. 1 Nr. 2).The designated products can be sold only after notifying the competent authority in electronic form and six months before putting them on the market. An amazon seller called Peter said that his product had written European Authorized Representative on the product manual. He found that things are not simple. Let’s give you some hints.

From July 16, 2021, sellers selling products with CE certificate must upload the information of authorized representatives in the EU (EAR), otherwise it will be deemed illegal!
Once it is listed as illegal sales, it may face Amazon compulsory measures such as listing off the shelf, prohibition of warehousing, forced warehouse transfer, store closure and so on.
Peter explained in simple language the relationship between EAR and CE certificate mentioned in the email.
CE certification
Product CE certification, also known as: European product pass. As the name suggests, products without this certificate cannot appear in the European market, let alone be sold openly.
According to EU law, CE certification is a compulsory certification mark. If a commodity does not obtain CE certification appears in the EU market, it will be regarded as an illegal act.
Generally speaking, the CE label can be printed on the commodity itself, the commodity package or other accompanying documents (such as instructions).CE certification also covers a wide range of products, which are basically required for products that can be sold in Amazon.
If there is no CE certification, the consequences are also serious. These products may not pass the customs, be detained or recalled, be taken off the shelf, be removed from the sales authority by the cross-border platform, and face high fines and severe penalties.
Here, Peter kindly reminds that if the seller has a CE label printed on the product or in an obvious position of the package as far as possible, it is not conspicuous enough in the manual, which may lead to the possibility of being killed by mistake.
In addition, only products with CE certification can be registered in Europe.
EAR
The EARrepresentative is the authorized representative in the EU.
EU law stipulates that manufacturers outside the EU must appoint an EU authorized representative within the EU, who will be responsible for various product standards after CE certification.
The name and address of the manufacturers EU authorized representative must be clearly printed on the packaging, label and operation instructions of products with CE mark imported from outside the EU.
In fact, the European representative and CE certification are like a pair of CP. the EU authorized representative (European representative) is responsible for the CE certification results of products.
This means that for all products from abroad, even if they have CE certification, the EU government is not at ease. They need a local organization to endorse your products. Once there is a problem, they can at least find someone to back up.
