European Authorized Representative

The European Authorised Representative (European Authorised Representative or European Authorized Representative) refers to a natural or legal person explicitly designated by a manufacturer located outside the European Economic Area. The natural or legal person can represent the manufacturer outside the EEA to perform the specific duties required by the relevant EU directives and laws for the manufacturer.

The European Authorised Representative (European Authorised Representative or European Authorized Representative) refers to a natural or legal person explicitly designated by a manufacturer located outside the European Economic Area.  - The new method directive requires that the EU authorized representative must be located in the European Economic Area and have a business registered address;

  - Competent authorities of EEA member states can find EU authorized representatives at any time to check whether overseas manufacturers have fulfilled the duties required by relevant EU directives and laws;

- The manufacturer's general commercial representative (such as an authorized dealer), whether or not in the European Economic Area, should not be confused with the EU authorized representative;

- Although the EU authorized representative can perform the specific duties required by the relevant EU directives and laws on behalf of overseas manufacturers, the manufacturer is still the party that bears the main responsibility.

The standard term used by EU authorized representatives in the English version of the EU Product Directive (Directive) is European Authorised Representative. There are many manufacturers, and American manufacturers prefer to write the EU authorized representative in American English as: European Authorized Representative.

Necessity of having an EU Authorized Representative

a) According to EU legal requirements, in order to achieve product traceability, CE-marked products placed on the EU market by the manufacturer must be marked with the manufacturer’s name and contact address. If the manufacturer is from the European economy In countries other than EEA (including EU and EFTA), its products must also be marked with the name and contact address of the manufacturer and the manufacturer’s EU authorized representative on the label (nameplate or packaging). as follows:

b) In order to ensure that the EU competent authority can timely check the technical documents (TCF) of the products affixed with the CE mark, overseas manufacturers should save the latest version of the technical documents in the EU authorized representative office for the period of time since the last batch of products exported 10 years later.

c) Any failures/accidents/recalls of products of manufacturers outside the EU in the EU should be contacted and notified by the authorized representative of the EU, and communicated with the competent authority.

Avoid distributors concurrently serving as authorized representatives of the European Union.

Avoid relatives and friends studying in Europe concurrently serving as authorized representatives of the EU.
